Operis ("Operis", "we") researches companies that show signs they are hiring and sends short introduction emails on behalf of the people who use Operis. This policy explains what data we handle, why, and the choices you have. Questions: mahmoud@meetoperis.com.
Data from your Google account
When you connect a Gmail mailbox, Operis asks Google for two permissions:
gmail.send: to send the introduction emails and follow-ups you have set up, from your mailbox.gmail.readonly: to read replies, delivery failures, automatic out-of-office replies and unsubscribe requests that relate to emails Operis sent.
We use this access only to send those emails, to detect replies and bounces, to stop follow-ups when someone replies or asks not to be contacted, and to show you those replies in your Operis dashboard. We do not use your mailbox for anything else, and we do not look through mail that is unrelated to the emails Operis sent.
What we store
- The access token that lets Operis send and read for the connected mailbox, kept on our server.
- The emails Operis sent and the replies, bounces and unsubscribe messages received in response, kept in our database so the dashboard can show conversations and so follow-ups stop at the right time.
- Business contact details of the people we email (name, work email, company, role), gathered from public sources.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use Gmail data to develop or train AI or machine-learning models. No one reads your mailbox content except you, unless the law requires it or it is needed to keep the service running or secure.
We use service providers that process data on our behalf: a hosting provider for our servers, a database provider for storage, and Telegram, to which short excerpts of real replies are sent as private notifications to the Operis operator. These providers may handle the data only to provide their service.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Operis's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Keeping and deleting data
Disconnecting a mailbox in Operis deletes its access token. You can also remove Operis's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Email records are kept while your account is active. To have your data deleted, or to ask what we hold about you, write to mahmoud@meetoperis.com and we will act on it within 30 days.
If we email you and you would rather we did not
Every introduction email can be answered with a request to stop. We then add the address, or its domain, to a do-not-contact list and send nothing further.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. If a change affects how we use Google data, we will tell connected users before it takes effect.
